I imagined writing the story of ‘Mango Crumble’ for many years and last year I completed writing it as a feature-length film script. It is a coming of age story about a Punjabi-Indian girl who immigrates to Britain in the early 1970’s. Last year, I was given the amazing opportunity to work with a final year Script Developer from one of the best film schools in the world. We have just completed a six month re-working of the script. It has been an incredible experience and I am really excited about the completed script.
I am told that it is an inspirational story for women of all races and a story that has not been told before. The two great British film makers who come to my mind for this project are Leslee Udwin and Gurinder Chadha. Someone once said, if you don’t have a dream, how can you have a dream come true?
